Ayurvedic Face Ubtan for Healthy and Glowing Skin

What is Face Ubtan?

Face Ubtan powder

Ubtan is a very fine mixture of extracts, powders, flours and clays that is used to wash the delicate skin on your face and also for making face masks. Face Ubtan differs from scrub in that the particles of ubtan are very small, they do not injure or scratch the skin like commercial face scrubs do, and can be used even twice a day.

Even though not many heard about face ubtan before, it is an ancient traditional Indian face cleanser going back to thousands of years ago. The use of ubtan for face washing is recommended by Ayurveda, the ancient science of life and health. The most important principle of Ayurveda is to use only what you can eat for skin care. And face ubtan is exactly that! In India, face ubtan, in addition to skin care, is also used in various rituals. For example, before the wedding, the body and soul of the bride and groom are cleansed with ubtan.

How to use Face ubtan?

Applying face ubtan is not that difficult.

Face Ubtan Powder

In the morning, you can use Ubtan instead of your traditional face cleanser, nothing else is required. Take 1 teaspoon of ubtan powder and dilute it in a palm of your hand with warm water, and mix together to the consistency of thick sour cream. With a little practice, it will be very easy and fast to do. Apply the mixture on your face and massage thoroughly in circular motion for a few minutes. Pay special attention to areas with black and white heads. It is a good idea to leave ubtan on your face for a few minutes while you brush your teeth. After that, just wash off with warm water and pat dry.

If you wash your face with ubtan powder in the evening, first of all, you need to remove makeup, if any. Ubtan will not cope with this function. Use natural hydrophilic gel or milk make up remover, and then wash your face with ubtan powder.

You can also make masks with ubtan powder - apply a thicker layer and leave on the face for 10-15 minutes. Twice a week is optimal.

What are the Benefits of Face Ubtan?

  • First, it is 100% natural. Ubtan does not contain even the mildest surfactants, preservatives and other additives.
  • Another benefit is that ubtan really cleans your skin thoroughly. With regular use you will be amazed to see how your skin becomes smooth, cleaner and glowing.
  • The third advantage of face ubtan – it does not dry out the skin, and doesn’t destroy the natural lipid barrier of the skin.
  • Also, daily massage of the skin with ubtan powder increases blood circulation and restarts skin regeneration processes.

The main components of ubtan powder:

  • Medicinal herbs - the presence of such herbs will allow you to wash off fat from your face, like ordinary soap, only in a much more delicate way.
  • Flour – effectively removes dirt particles from your face. In ubtans, the most widely used flour choices are chickpea, oat, rice, coconut and flaxseed.
  • Clays – absorb and take away excess fat and toxins from the skin.
  • Active powders - to solve specific skin problems – reduce oil production, brighten the skin from pigmentation, moisturize, prevent acne, and so on.
